Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, his Nyamira colleague Okong’o Omogeni, Sirisia MP John Waluke and Eldas MP Adan Keynan have missed out of coveted Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) posts.

This is after Azimio La Umoja coalition made a last-minute decision to pick ODM MP Mishi Mboko (Likoni), Wiper’s Patrick Makau (Mavoko) and Jubilee Senator Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo).

UDA will be represented in PSC by MP Mohammed Ali (Nyali), Senator Joyce Korir (Nominated), Woman Rep Faith Gitau (Nyandarua) and Senator Nderitu Kinyua (Laikipia).

The Members of Parliament from the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party and the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance will serve as PSC commissioners for the next five years.

Raila Odinga’s Azimio coalition had threatened to implode with bitter exchanges of words being made in public as members lobbied for commissioner slots in the much sought-after PSC.

In the Senate, a furious Omogeni had viciously blasted his ODM party on the floor of the House for settling on Raila’s brother Oburu to become one of its representatives in PSC.

Dulo is expected to relinquish her Minority Whip position in the National Assembly as she takes up the new role with the coalition now forced to select a lawmaker to replace her.

PSC consists of the National Assembly Speaker, who serves as the Chairperson, seven MPs selected by their parties, and a man and a woman experienced in public affairs but not MPs.

The Clerk of the Senate serves as the Secretary to the Parliamentary Service Commission, with all the new members expected to serve until the life of the current Parliament elapses.
