Motorists plying the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway were stranded for hours at Kijabe area on Saturday following an accident involving multiple vehicles.

According to our Swala Nyeti reporter on the ground, at least five vehicles were involved in the crash hampering movement of traffic on both sides of the busy road.

The snarl up affected motorists heading towards Nakuru and those heading towards Nairobi on Saturday night.

According to an eyewitness, the accident occured after two vehicles that were speeding collided with other vehicles behind them ramming them causing a pile up. 

Police officers arrived at the scene of the accident to tow away the cars involved and control the traffic pile up with impatient motorists overlapping making matters worse.

Motorists plying the Nairobi-Nakuru highway are advised to be cautious as the roads are slippery and visibility poor due to the ongoing rains. 

Normal traffic later resumed hours later on Saturday night following the intervention by police.
