Kenyan renowned investigative journalist John Allan Namu has addressed viral reports circulating across social alleging he was working with the slain Pakistani journalist Ashrad Sharif.

Namu was reacting to reports, speculating he was working together with Sharif on a project.

One such report was expressed in a tweet by a user named Mir Showket who claimed he was working on a Behind Closed Doors with Namu.

“If anyone has any doubt why he went to Kenya, let me elucidate he was there for to expose the corrupt, corruption of PDM, BAJWA. He was working on the project behind the close doors with Kenya based journalist,” Showket tweeted.

Namu responded to him and told him his claim was incorrect.

While responding to another tweet, Namu noted he was interviewed for the documentary but never worked nor met Arshad.

“I am sorry to hear about Arshad's death. I was interviewed for the documentary, but he and I never met or worked together,” Namu said.

He thanked people who reached out to him to find out if he was fine for their concern and sent his condolences to Arshad’s family.

Namu condemned the heinous act and said no journalist should lose their life over their work.

“To those who have called and messaged to check on me, I am fine and safe. Thank you for your concern. I really do appreciate it. As for those asking for quotes on the story kindly reference my earlier tweets on the same,” Namu said.

“Away from dealing with the fake news coming my way around #ArshadSharif death, once again my sincere condolences go to his wife & family. It should be clear by now that no journalist should ever have to pay this price for his work, but in this day and age it bears repeating. RIP.”
