Former Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary and President William Ruto’s nominee for the Sports and Arts Cabinet Secretary’s position Ababu Namwamba has disclosed he has an estimated net worth of Sh425 million.

Namwamba revealed that during his vetting on Friday by the Commission on Appointments.

The charismatic lawyer stunned members of the panel when he quantified his assets, which included two luxury boats and two high-end luxury cars.

Ababu also revealed his land holding and shareholding in various local companies.

“My net worth is Ksh.425 million. My residence in Nairobi, my country residence in Busia County, a business titled Che's Bay, two land holdings, shareholdings in Safaricom, Cooperative Bank and Kenya Power and my pension income,” Ababu said.

“I have two motor vehicles; a Range Rover and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, and two water vessels, totalling to Sh425 million.”

Ababu said he was conversant with the Sports Ministry and pledged to deal with the rot in there, which he said was run down by some rogue agents maligning the Ministry’s name.

“I have a fairly good view of the sporting terrain; I am not under any illusion as to the state of this terrain…It is actually in turmoil. Our football activities are in limbo having been suspended,” Namwamba noted.

Ababu once served as the Budalangi Member of Parliament for two terms.

He served as the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs for a year, from 2012 to 2013 in the late retired President Mwai Kibaki’s administration before being appointed the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018.
