Justina Wamae, Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah's running mate in the recently concluded election has officially resigned from being a member of the party.
Justina had written a letter to Roots Party leadership seeking to have her name expunged from the party register following the conclusion of the presidential election and the declaration of President William Ruto as the winner of the election.
“My role as Roots Party of Kenya Presidential Running mate lapsed with the declaration of H.E President William Ruto and H.E Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on the 16th of August 2022 and subsequent upholding of the election by the Supreme court of Kenya on the 5th of September 2022,” Justina wrote.

“In this regard, I tender my resignation as a member of Roots Party of Kenya. Kindly accord the ORPP the requirements for my name's prompt removal from your party register.”
Wamae also wrote a letter to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) notifying the registrar of her withdrawal from the Roots Party.
ORPP responded to Justina, acknowledging receipt of her letter and declared her a member of no party.
“This Office acknowledges receipt of your letter dated 22 September, 2022 on the above subject matter and duly notes the content therein,” ORPP responded.
“According to the records held by this Office as at 22nd September 2022, Justina Wangui Wamae of XXXXXXXXX is not a member of any registered.”
The relationship between Wajackoyah and Justina deteriorated after the latter accused the former of supporting another contestant and being a project in the August election.
Justina’s utterances saw her get summoned before the Roots Party disciplinary committee, a summons she first said she would not honour terming that as pettiness.
She would change tune days later and presented herself at the Party’s headquarters with her supporters but was blocked from accessing the premises by armed security personnel.
