Turkish 'businessman' Harun Aydin, President William Ruto’s associate who was deported from the country last year was spotted at State House on Tuesday.

Aydin joined other dignitaries at the State House and was seen mingling with top Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders during Ruto’s first luncheon.

Aydin was deported from the country under Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration under mysterious circumstances.

He was accused of bankrolling terrorist activities by the government while some Kenya Kwanza leaders who were close to the president denied those claims, saying he was being targeted and was an investor with an interest in modern fruit farming.

While terming the move political pettiness, Ruto defended Aydin saying he was a victim of arrogance bred by patronage and cartels that criminalised enterprise.

“Turkish investor,Aydin Harun, is a victim of top-down arrogance bred by patronage & cartels that criminalise enterprise. Importers' goods declared contraband,Africa spirits closed, keroche harassed, now investor with valid papers labelled terrorist. Tragedy of political pettiness,” Ruto said.

The whole drama started with the government barring Ruto from making a trip to Entebbe after spending over five hours at the airport trying to secure clearance from state officials.

The Turk was part of Ruto’s entourage to Entebbe that fateful day and a section of Kenyans said his presence is what caused the State to bar Ruto from his Uganda trip.
