The Independent Electoral and Electoral Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati expressed his gratitude to President William Ruto for the recognition of the commission’s efforts to set a higher standard of integrity and the standards of public service in Kenya.
Chebukati issued a statement vies his social media saying he was proud of his contribution to strengthening democracy in the country.
“On behalf of IEBC & myself, I wish to thank H.E. President William Ruto for recognizing IEBC for having raised the bar of integrity and the standard of public service in Kenya,” Chebukati said.
“I feel proud to have made my contribution towards strengthening democracy in Kenya. God bless.”

Chebukati also thanked his fellow commissioners and the IEBC staff who worked around the clock to deliver what he termed a credible election.
Once more, Chebukati disclosed a section of the IEBC employees faced intimidation in their lines of duty.
“Special thanks to Commissioners Prof. Abdi Guliye & Boya Molu @moluboya, CEO Hussein Marjan, our team at the National Tallying Center, our Returning Officers and the entire staff of @IEBCKenya who worked tirelessly and withstood intimidation to deliver a credible 2022 Election,” he said.
The IEBC chairman also seized the moment to thank his entire family for their prayers and support during the election period.
“I would also like to sincerely thank my lovely wife Mary, my children Rachel @MissChebukati, Jonathan and Emmanuel @echebukati, my parents and larger family for the continuous prayers and for standing by me during the election period,” Chebukati wrote.
Chebukati was the Presidential Returning Officer in the last general election and that was the last election he will preside over because his tenure was coming to a close.
