The Kenya Defence Forces have organised a farewell ceremony for the Commander-In-Chief, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This was announced in a press invitation sent out on September 8, 2022, from 8 am at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata.

“The Kenya Defence Forces cordially invites your media house representatives to provide media coverage during the farewell ceremony of the outgoing Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces on Friday, 09 September 2022, from 0800hrs at Ulinzi Sports Complex Lang'ata,” the statement read.

According to the press invitation, the event will proceed to the Defence Headquarters in Hurlingham in the afternoon.

“The event will thereafter proceed for the Pulling Out of the outgoing Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces in the afternoon at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Hurlingham, Nairobi,” the invite read.

This is in line with the military traditions and custom to hold a farewell ceremony for the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Forces.

This will be the last celebration the KDF will hold for the outgoing president before handing over power to his successor President-elect William Ruto.
