President Uhuru Kenyatta has appeared in public for the first time since the general election.
Cheerful Uhuru was spotted in the streets of Mombasa town on Wednesday walking in the company of the county's new boss Governor-elect Abdulswamad Nassir, Mvita MP-elec Mahsoud Machele, outgoing Governor Hassan Joho, among other leaders.
The president had lunch with the newly elected leaders at Baraka Restaurant before heading to the Mombasa County offices.
As he walked through the city, the president exchanged pleasantries with the locals who could not hide their excitement to see him.

At one point, Uhuru struck up a conversation with a cameraman that was walking close to him and promised to look for him.
"How are you? I usually see your messages. I will look for you," Uhuru told the cameraman.
Kenyans have noted Uhuru's silence since the presidential election and a section of politicians especially from the Kenya Kwanza Alliance have been prodding him to speak.
