The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of the National Government has moved county commissioners to different areas in its latest reshuffle.

In a circular dated August 23, 2022, eight commissioners have been transferred to new regions.

Nakuru County Commissioner Erastus Mbui has been transferred to Kitui and Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara has been moved to Embu.

The two came under sharp criticism from the Kenya Kwanza Alliance during the campaigns ahead of the general elections.

Trans Nzoia’s Commissioner Samson Samson Ojwang’ has been transferred to Busia while his Bomet counterpart Beverly Opwora goes to Makueni.

Opwora has been replaced by Ahmed Omar who came from Busia.

Gilbert Kitiyo will become the new Nakuru County Governor while Mathias Roba moves from Kitui to Trans Nzoia.

Eddyson Nyale moves to Uasin Gishu to replace Stephen Kihara. 

The commissioners are expected to report to their new stations immediately.

“The officers should be released to report to their new stations immediately,” the notice read.

However, the reasons for the transfers of the commissioners remain unclear.
