A student at Mokwerero Secondary School in Kitutu Masaba Constituency was arrested after he allegedly tried to hack his deputy principal on Wednesday morning.

Teachers managed to apprehend the student, who was armed with the machete and a sharpening file as they rescued the visibly shaken deputy principal of the school located in Nyamira County.

A police report filed in Nyamira indicates that the 18-year-old Form Two student raided Jared Morara’s office and tried to attack him using the sharpened machete.

It took the intervention of teachers and subordinate staff to rescue Morara from the wrath of the student who was angered after he was allegedly denied a chance to change his old exercise books for new ones.

School principal Kennedy Ogecha said police are investigating the matter and the student will be charged in court over the offence.

The shocking incident comes a day after a Form Three student at Kisii High School attacked and wounded two teachers using a kitchen knife after he was asked to kneel for being late.

The 17-year-old student was charged with attempted murder on Tuesday, he denied the charges and was released on a Sh50,000 cash bail ahead of a mention on January 27.
