President-elect William Ruto on Thursday met the US Senator Chris Coons-led diplomatic mission to Kenya at his Karen residence.


"Held talks with Congressional Delegation from the United States led by Delaware Senator Chris Andrew Coons in the company of @USAmbKenya at the Karen Office, Nairobi County," Ruto said.

The Congressional delegation is on its third destination in the country for its five-country African tour.


Coons and his entourage arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday night and the US Ambassador to Kenya Margaret Whitman received them.

According to Ruto, they discussed the recently concluded general election and areas of cooperation between the United States and Kenya.

They also committed to strengthening the diplomatic ties between the two nations for the benefit of citizens in both nations.

"The talks touched on the just concluded elections in the country and areas of cooperation between Kenya and United States. We commit to deepen relations and further partnership for the mutual benefit of the citizens of the two countries," the president-elect disclosed.


The delegation was also scheduled to meet the outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga.
