The family of Daniel Mbolu Musyoka, the Embakasi East Returning Officer who went missing last Thursday has appealed to the relevant security agencies to hasten the search for their Kin.

Speaking at their home in Nyonjoro, Nakuru County, his wife Tabitha Mbolu said their family is in anguish since their search now includes hospitals, mortuaries and other facilities.

Tabitha revealed that on the day of Musyoka’s disappearance, she tried to reach him, but she failed until hours later when a relative informed her that Musyoka was nowhere to be seen.

According to Tabitha, Musyoka has been an employee of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for thirteen years and initially worked at the IEBC offices in Loitokitok before being transferred to Embakasi East.

Musyoka’s family disclosed that a police report said his mobile phone went off an hour after his disappearance in Mihang’o area in Utawala.

The IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati on Friday evening reported that one of his Returning Officers (RO) who was working in Embakasi East Constituency had gone missing.

According to Chebukati’s announcement, Musyoka went missing on Thursday at around 9:45 am at the East African School of Aviation where the tallying process of the presidential election results from the constituency was ongoing after he excused himself for a phone call.

The Deputy Returning Officer for Embakasi East Constituency took over Musyoka’s duties at his station as the search for Musyoka was launched.
