The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition’s Secretary General Junet Mohamed has denounced a video doing rounds on social media in which a voice is heard speaking to a purported official of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)
Junet, in a statement released on his behalf, termed the clip as a manipulated piece and fake.
“A manipulated voice recording doing rounds on Social Media purporting to capture Hon. Junet Mohamed as speaking to an IEBC official is FAKE,” the statement read.
Junet urged members of the public to ignore the video, dismissing it as the last desperate acts of their opponents’ dying political campaign.
“The Hon. Junet Mohamed urges the public to ignore the video, which appears to be one of the last desperate acts of a dying political campaign that has been based on years of lies, innuendoes, mudslinging, arrogance, chest-thumping, name-calling, insults and now waking up to the reality of a lost election - is on a sympathy seeking spree!” the statement read in part.

In the same breath, Junet invited investigative authorities to make haste in looking into the matter and bring the creators of the manipulated video to book.
