Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua ruffled Nyeri journalists' feathers on Monday with his remarks that they said were inciting the public against them.

Gachagua made the alleged remarks during a meeting he convened and was attended by grassroot leaders from Kieni.

The purpose of the meeting was to drum up support for Keini parliamentary aspirant Njoroge Wainaina.

Gachagua accused the journalists of altering the facts after gathering news

The Mathira MP also assured the journalists that the UDA would win anyway minus their participation.

“You have recorded enough you news people. And don’t alter facts the way you always do. Do you know these people alter facts?,” Gachagua said.

“We shall win this election even without your help.”

Gachagua also accused the media of manipulating his remarks for their own gains.

He singled out the incident in which he was captured on video saying once the Kenya Kwanza Alliance wins the August election, he will recover the money that the government froze on grounds of being illicitly gained.

He did not stop at that, Gachagua went to the extent of mentioning the name of a journalist that works for a local vernacular radio station.

Gachagua also claimed the presenters of the station were always biased against him and suggested the media house was linked with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, he bragged they will triumph in the August election.

“But we know the radio station is owned by Uhuru Kenyatta’s family. Or don’t you know that?” Gachagu posed.

“These people attack Rigathi Gachagua every morning. But they will take us nowhere; we shall beat them in the elections.”

Immediately after concluding his speech, the journalists who were present left the venue of the event for fear of retribution.
