Police on Monday finally apprehended Alex Sadi who had been on the run after a chemist linked to him in Mombasa County was found with government drugs worth Sh5 million.

Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) Head of Crime Investigations and Enforcement Unit Dennis Otieno confirmed on Monday that Sadi was finally nabbed on Monday morning.

The drugs that had Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) labels were discovered following a raid by PPB officials on his Kadunguni Pharmacy in Mtwapa on Sunday.

Otieno confirmed that the officials pounced on Sadi after he returned to his Pharmacy on Monday morning a day after he had indicated that he had escaped the board’s dragnet.

The PPB officials pounced on him and put him in custody after they found him to have reopened his business when they came to impound the remaining drugs they had found.

In December 2016, a video went viral capturing a man who was protesting his arrest by traffic and National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officers for allegedly drink driving.

When he was arrested using the alcoblow, Sadi had protested saying he was being hounded by the police “...like a rat on the highway...” in remarks that excited Kenyans online.

"When you catch me like a rat on the highway…and I have been driving for over 20 years and you come talking to me big nonsense. Stop wasting your time, stop wasting your good time because that is where you go wrong,” he lamented then.
