The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a statement on the viral video footage in which a seemingly drunk woman claiming to be a police officer was harassing members of the public at a social club.

The NPS, through its spokesperson Bruno Shioso, said they were aware of the unfortunate incident that was recorded by another reveller.

“Attention of the National Police Service is drawn to a viral video clip circulating on social media where a lady in a social club is having an altercation with other revelers threatening to arrest them for some alleged crimes,” the statement read.

NPS further clarified that the lady is not a police but a Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) enforcement officer

“The impression created by the clip supposes that the said lady is a police officer misusing her law enforcement powers. This is to confirm to the public that the said lady as portrayed IS NOT a POLICE OFFICER under the NPS as believed BUT an ENFORCEMENT OFFICER working for Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS),” the statement read in part.

Police also said any claim made by the lady now identified as Sheila Chepkoech Too being a police inspector is viewed as impersonation of a police officer.


In the video, the Chepkoech who was visibly intoxicated was engaged in an altercation with another reveller at the club and could be heard threatening to arrest the individual.

There was a male company of Chepkoech’s was also captured in the footage trying to justify her actions, which were not limited to grabbing the other person’s phone and applying unprintable words while speaking to her.
