A pastor is the talk of town after mistakenly referring to Kenya Kwanza as “Kenya Kwisha” while praying for Deputy President William Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua.

The Freudian slip happened as Pastor Jane Wairimu of the Africa Inland Church (AIC) happened during a prayer session for Kenya Kwanza at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

Kenya Kwisha is a term used by the Raila Odinga-led Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance to derogatively refer to the coalition led by Ruto and loosely translates to Kenya is finished.

On realizing her slip of the tongue, Pastor Wairimu embarrassingly corrected herself and went ahead with the rest of the prayer to the amusement of all those in attendance.

At the event the DP is set to to sign a Women’s Charter that he says will give women more space in his campaigns and his administration should he form the next government.

Ruto’s newfound push to have more women incorporated in his campaign is widely seen as a reaction to neutralize the wave created Raila nominated Martha Karua as his running mate.

Pundits say the choice of Karua has raised the stature of the Azimio presidential candidate in Mt Kenya and nationally by exciting women voters hence dwindling Ruto's political fortunes.

Ruto pledged to support the ambitions of women predicting that Kenya Kwanza would produce the highest number of elected women governors in the August 9 general election.

"There's testimony that in the next 13th Parliament, to demonstrate that Kenya Kwanza is the place of women, even before the election we have a woman who has been elected as woman rep from Kericho County, Beatrice Kemei who is unopposed woman representative."
