Police in Nyandarua have a man in their custody after nabbing him on Sunday peddling canine meat.

The man identified as Wahome Ndirangu was going about his illicit business of selling dog meat to unsuspecting customers around Wanjohi Town when the long arms of the law caught up with him.

After arresting Ndirangu, the police investigations took them to the suspect's home where they recovered evidence that further implicated Ndirangu.

According to police report, they found a severed dog head, blood stained machete and knife, a sufuria presumably used for preparing the dog meat, a wire he used as a snare to trap the poor animals, among other items.

“Upon searching his compound, the following were recovered; a slit separate dog head, a sufuria which he used to cook the meat, a blood stained knife and a blood stained panga and a wire which he used to trap the dog," the police report read.

Ndirangu's charge sheet became longer when police also came across his stash of about 10 grams of bhang during the search of his compound.

Police also found a live dog in Ndirangu's compound which they highly suspected was about to be turned into someone's delicacy.

Ndirangu faces among other charges, selling of meat unfit for human consumption and being in possession of bhang.
