A policeman is fighting for his life at Sagam Hospital in Luanda, Siaya County after he was allegedly assaulted on Friday by his girlfriend, who is said to be Form 3 student. 

19-year-old Sheryl Awino is said to have cut Dennis Mugo in the head with a broken glass and left him profusely bleeding profusely in his house located in Ugunja.

It is still unclear what started the fight between the St. Peter’s Rambula Mixed Secondary School student and the officer attached to Ugunja Police Station.

According to police, the two lovers were involved in a bitter argument that evolved into a fierce physical fight that ended up breaking a glass bottle.

“The suspect picked a broken piece of glass and attacked Mugo by cutting him in the head and his left arm,” a police report filed at Ugunja Police Station stated.

Mugo’s cries for help saw his colleague Solomon Kipchumba rush to his aid but he was also allegedly attacked by Awino using the broken glass and left him with a cut lower lip.

Kipchumba, who was also bleeding profusely, filed a report at the Ugunja Police Station and the two officers were then rushed to the hospital.

The suspect is in police custody while Mugo is admitted at the Sagam Community Hospital receiving urgent treatment and Kipchumba has been treated and discharged.
