A former Deputy OCS at the Ugunja Police Station, who was at one time accused of murdering a journalist based in Siaya, has been found dead.

Chief Inspector Sabina Kerubo bust into the limelight on November 21, 2019 after a Siaya-based correspondent with The Star newspaper was found dead in her house in Ugunja Town.

41-year-old Erick Oloo was found with deep cut injuries in his head and Kerubo was then arrested and arraigned over Oloo’s murder.

However, in a twist of events, the case against the senior police officer failed to take off after witnesses failed to appear in court for mentions.

Kerubo was later moved to Police Headquarters in Nairobi for counselling only for her lifeless body to be found in her single-room house at Komarock in Matungulu, Machakos County.

Police described her body as appearing ‘weak and emaciated’ and a report was filed at the KBC Police Station under OB Number 17/22/12/2020 by his boyfriend Philip Monta.

“She appeared frail. Next to her body were empty glasses and jugs of keg alcohol,” said the Matungulu OCPD after her body was discovered on a mattress lying on the floor.

The body of the 36-year-old top cop was moved to Machakos hospital morgue to await a postmortem examination.
