Deputy President William Ruto hosted the Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland at his Karen Office on Tuesday.


Ruto acknowledged the Commonwealth’s approval of the country’s peaceful campaigns it nears the August general election.

The DP expressed the country’s commitment to working with Commonwealth towards free, fair and credible elections and providing an environment for smooth transmission.


"We commit to working closely with the association towards free, fair, transparent and democratic elections that will pave the way to a smooth transition after the August polls," Ruto said.


The Secretary-General is in the country to attend the 2-day event of the 21st Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (CCEM) which began on Wednesday.

The conference is being hosted by the Government of Kenya in conjunction with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Ministry of Education.


The theme for the conference is ‘Rethinking Education for Innovation, Growth and Sustainability post-Covid-19’.
