The government has assured motorists and commuters that all roads affected by the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway will be restored to their original form.

This is the assurance given by Infrastructure Principal Secretary Prof Paul Maringa.

Prof Maringa spoke as he inspected the ongoing restoration works on Mombasa Road (A8), especially along the sections that have been affected by construction of the Nairobi Expressway.

The PS assured that all the repairs to the lower roads will be concluded before the Expressway is officially opened for use by all paying motorists by President Uhuru Kenyatta early next month.

“It is essential that prior to the operationalization of the Nairobi Expressway, the A8 is restored to safe and good condition for all road users,” he said.

Prof Maringa was accompanied on the tour by officers from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Secretary, Eng Francis Gitau, and Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) Director General Eng Kung’u Ndung’u.

This comes amid rising concerns raised by motorists and other road users over the poor state of sections of Mombasa Road and Waiyaki Way due to damages caused by the Nairobi Expressway construction.
