Comedian-cum-politician Jasper Muthomi also known as MC Jessy has come out claiming he was arm-twisted into stepping down from the Imenti South parliamentary race a few days ago.
On Thursday, Jessy said he was under duress when he accepted to step down from the Imenti South parliamentary race in favour of Mwiti Kathaara.
He revealed those details when he was speaking on Citizen TV when he said he never accepted to step down voluntarily, nor was he involved in any form of negotiations.
“Honestly speaking, I never accepted out of will to step down. I had been asked to take part in negotiations on who gets the UDA ticket in South Imenti MP race. As a result, planned primaries in the area were cancelled,” Jessy said.
The comedian denied ever mutually agreeing with anyone that Kathaara would run for the MP seat on the UDA ticket.

He also emphasised that the statement that was let out to the public did not originate from him.
“I did not step down voluntarily, as was announced. The statement that was communicated did not reflect my true position,” Jessy said.
Jessy noted his mistake was settling for negotiation with his competitor instead of taking it to the ballot in the party primaries.
“The mistake I made was accepting to negotiate with my competitor, instead of insisting on party primaries. Ruto asked me to step down in favour of Kathaara,” Jesse said.
On Wednesday last week, Deputy President William Ruto announced through his Twitter account that Jessy had stepped down and had taken up another role in his presidential campaign team.
However, on Monday, just a few days down the line Jessy made an about-turn, declined the job offer at Ruto’s presidential campaign team and announced he will vie for the Imenti South parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
