Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi caused a stir in Parliament on Tuesdsy after she claimed Deputy President William Ruto had 'grabbed' various parcels of land across Kenya.

Fatuma, who speaking in National Assembly in a heated session, claimed DP Ruto had illegally taken possession of parcels of land in Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Taita Taveta and Wajir Counties.

“So when we talk about land grabbing Mr. Speaker, we know the people who grabbed land including the land that belongs to the students in Langata Primary School. We know the person who grabbed that land Mr. Speaker. If it is about grabbing land, we know who owns the land in Taita Taveta Mr. Speaker," she claimed.

She added, "We know who grabbed the land in Laikipia Mr. Speaker.The same person, the candidate of Kenya Kwanza we are being showed is the same person who grabbed land and the father of land grabbers Arap Mashamba Mr. Speaker,” Gedi said

It was the Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa who rose on a point of order to ask Gedi to either substantiate or withdraw her allegations on the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate.

However, when National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi asked Gedi to substantiate her claims or withdraw the same, she refused and went on record, saying the information was in the public domain and she had no apology to make.

“It is in the public domain, including court orders, where one William Ruto grabbed land and I have no apology to make. Give me two days and I will bring the details,” Gedi asserted.

Being that Gedi was on record saying she would avail the evidence within two days, Muturi gave her until Thursday at 2:30 pm to table her evidence in the house or face sanctions.

This, according to the speaker, was not ordinary, but since she undertook to provide the evidence in the two days, Muturi granted her request.

“When you say something here you are expected to have the material but given the gravity of what you have just said, I will allow you and therefore Hon. Gedi on Thursday 14th at 2:30 pm, we expect you to come with the details,” Muturi said.
