The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has linked Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Soi MP Caleb Kositany and Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat to the stoning of Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga in Uasin Gishu on Friday.

In a statement issued on Saturday, DCI said its preliminary investigation in the violence linked the three to the stoning of Raila’s chopper and motorcade at Kamenes area.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the chaos was organized and coordinated by Hon Caleb Kositany, MP, Soi Constituency, Hon Oscar Sudi, MP, Kapseret Constituency and Hon David Kiplagat, speaker of Uasin Gishu County Assembly,” the DCI said on Saturday.

In that regard, the directorate summoned the trio to the Rift Valley DCI Regional Coordinator’s office on Sunday at 9am to be grilled on their involvement in the chaos.

“In view of the foregoing, the two legislators and County Assembly Speaker have pursuant to Section 52 of the National Police Service Act 2011, been summoned to appear in person before the Rift Valley DCI Regional coordinator on April 3, 2022, at 9 am, for further investigations into their involvement in the incident,” the DCI said.

Police also disclosed that 17 people had already been arrested in connection to the incident in which rowdy youth at Kemenes hurled stones at Raila’s chopper and vehicles shattering their windows and putting the life of the former Prime Minister and his team in danger.

The incident has been widely condemned by leaders across the political divide and Kenyans on and off social media as violence reared its ugly head ahead of the August general election.
