A China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 has crashed in the South-Eastern province of Guanxin on Monday.

According to reports, Flight number MU5735 was en route to Guangzhou from Kumming when the accident happened.

The accident is reported to have happened near the city of Wuzhou in Teng County to the South-West.

The plane was carrying 123 passengers and 9 crew members when the accident happened.

Data from flight-tracking website FlightRadar24 show the aircraft, Boeing 737-89- rapidly lost speed after 06:20 GMT before sharply descending.

Flight number MU5735 stopped transmitting data just South-West of Wuzhou.

Rescue teams were dispatched to the crash site. 

This is the biggest aviation accident in China involving civilian passenger flight since 2010.

The Shanghai-based airline is one of China’s top three airlines operating on both domestic and international routes, with 248 destinations across the globe.
