State House has denounced information that has been going round in the media that President Uhuru Kenyatta convened a meeting of Friday with leaders from the Mount Kenya region on Friday.

State House spokesperson Kanze Dena issued a statement on Thursday saying Uhuru's attention has been drawn to misleading information circulating online on the purported meeting.

Kanze said Uhuru did not convene, nor did he postpone any such meetings.

She termed the information as false and misleading.

"The President did not convene nor postpone any such meeting. Therefore, the information is false and misleading," the statement read.

Kanze further informed the public that the president is scheduled to have several public engagements that will be made known to the public via proper platforms.

His Excellency President Kenyatta's diary for the remainder of the week and the weekend ahead has several public engagements of which Kenyans will be duly informed through established platforms.

Information about the purported meeting was first published by Deputy President William Ruto's Digital Media Strategist Dennis Itumbi on Wednesday.

“Good evening Mheshimiwa. I wish to invite you for a meeting of all MPs, Senators and Governors from the Mt Kenya region at Statehouse Nairobi on Friday, 18th March 2022, from 10am. Kindly confirm attendance now,” the bogus invite read.

On Thursday, Itumbi shared another purported letter to the invitees insinuating that the president had postponed the meeting.

"Good Morning Mheshimiwa. After wide consultations, I have deferred the meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, at Statehouse Nairobi, with MPs, Senators and Governors, from the Mt Kenya region, to a later date, which will be communicated to you, in due course. Uhuru Kenyatta," Itumbi's tweet read.
