Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala met with leaders from the Mount Kenya region on Monday.

This comes after Malala sparked a row with people from the region over the Deputy President’s slot in Deputy President William Ruto’s political formation.

Last Saturday, Malala said the DP slot is not a preserve for the Mount Kenya region. He insisted the DP slot in Kenya Kwanza Alliance is reserved for Amani National Congress (ANC) party.

The meeting served to iron out the tension that Malala’s remarks elicited.

Details of what was discussed during the meeting were not disclosed, however, Malala came out of it saying the people from the ‘Mulembe’ community and those from Mount Kenya will work together.

“The Mountain and Mulembe Nation will work together to deliver the 5th president of the Republic of Kenya. Privileged to have met leaders from the expansive Mt. Kenya region for a candid tête-à-tête on the same,” Malala said.

The meeting was attended by Willliam Ruto, Rigathi Gachagua, Ndindi Nyoro, Njeru Ndwiga, Kimani Ichung’wa, Njuguna Wanjiku, CecilyMbarire, among others.
