Detectives have finally nabbed the prime suspect behind the assault on a female motorist along Nairobi’s Forest Road.

Zachariah Nyaora Obadia has been on the police list of the most wanted individuals and has been on the run for sexual assault.

Nyaora was arrested on Monday afternoon at the Kenya-Tanzania border in Sirare, as he was trying to flee the country.

The detectives drawn from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau in conjunction with a section of Nairobi based detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) seized Nyaora as he tried to sneak into Tanzania through some unorthodox route.

Nyaora has been on the run since last week when he narrowly escaped the police dragnet through a sewer duct in the informal settlement of Mukuru Kaiyaba.

He has since engaged the authorities in a hide and seek game until moments ago when he was arrested.

According to police reports, forensic evidence placed Nyaora at the scene of the crime on that fateful day.

Nyaora is currently being airlifted to Nairobi to face charges for his crimes.

The events of the day caused an uproar from members of the public who pushed the authorities to take stern action against boda boda operators.

Following the incident, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a nationwide crackdown on all boda boda operators and a fresh registration of the same.

Other individuals who were already arrested and arraigned in court in connection to the crime are still in police custody, awaiting the conclusion of the investigations.
