Police have arrested a third-year economics student at Zetech University for selling fake Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam papers.
Undercover detectives attached to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) monitoring and surveillance unit arrested Oscar Brighton on Thursday.
Brighton was found in possession of fake examination papers and soft copies of others on his mobile phone.
The suspect created several WhatsApp groups through which he asked several candidates to deposit sums of between Sh1,600 for humanities and Sh2,600 for sciences.
Brighton, a serial offender, was placed in police custody waiting to be charged with contravening Section 28 of the National Examination Malpractices Act 29, 2012.
In the past, there have been such incidents where unscrupulous individuals swindle people of a lot of money, claiming they have exam leakages.
