The police spokesperson Bruno Shioso has confirmed the arrest of 32 individuals in connection to the assault meted on a female motorist by people believed to be boda boda operators.

12 motorcycles have also been impounded as police tighten the noose on the investigations regarding the incident.

Among the 32 people arrested are at least 16 boda boda riders who are believed to be the perpetrators of the act.

In an earlier statement, Shioso also revealed the incident occurred on Friday, just a few days before the world celebrates Women’s day.

According to Nairobi Area Traffic Commandant Joshua Omukata, the suspects are being held at the Parklands Police station as investigations are still underway while. They await to be arraigned in court as soon as the investigations are concluded.

"The suspects are currently being detained at the Parklands Police Station in Nairobi, awaiting arraignment upon completion of investigations," Omukata said. 

The police spokesperson advised motorists that in case they are involved in an accident, they should analyse the situation first and do what is best in the circumstance.

"I can’t say that I am advising motors to take off. What I can say is that you analyse your situation as it is and do what you think is first best for your personal safety," Shioso said.

Shioso was answering a question during an interview in a local media house, in which he was asked the best course of action one should take in case they were involved in an accident with boda boda operators.
