Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua has officially quit the Jubilee Party and joined William Ruto’s UDA party.

Gachagua announced his defection officially on Thursday via his social media accounts.

Similarly, the vocal MP has announced that he will defend his Mathira Constituency parliamentary seat, putting to rest his jostling for the position of running mate in the UDA formation headed by Deputy President William Ruto.

“I have officially left my former party @JubileePartyK and joined the winning party @UDAKenya to defend my Mathira Parliamentary seat,” Gachagua wrote.

Gachagua also shared a photo of the receipt he was issued after paying the MP's nomination fees for UDA.

Recently, a section of members of the public, especially those from the Mount Kenya Region, had hinted that Gachagua would be Ruto’s running mate in the August general election.

As he seeks to defend his seat, he has challenged anyone wishing to unseat him to come forth and challenge him head-on.

“Who wishes to unseat me ???? Come all come many,” he dared.
