No holds barred as Uhuru tears into DP Ruto while defending his tenure

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday defended his 10-year tenure during a meeting with elders and residents of Mt Kenya region at Sagana State Lodge, Nyeri County. 

Uhuru held nothing back as he tore into his deputy for what he termed misleading the region and Kenyans about his government and promises he makes in his campaigns. 

Addressing Jubilee Party leaders and members of the public gathered at Sagana, the Head of State lambasted Ruto for absconding work to focus on his bid to occupy State House in the August election.

The meeting dubbed Sagana 3 came just a few days ahead of Jubilee Party National Delegates Convention (NDC) slated for February 25 and February 26 at the KICC.

Uhuru reiterated his support for Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga as the best suited to succeed him to develop the country as one.

“I would like to tell you sincerely, I am not working with Raila because I want him to become president; I want us to create peace for your Republic of Kenya,” Uhuru said.

On matters economy, he said when he came to power in 2013 the economy was worth Sh5 trillion and he will handover an economy which has more than doubled to his successor, with those in attendance shouting Raila’s name as their choice.  

“I inherited a Sh5 trillion economy, I will hand over a Sh13 trillion economy to…(crowd chants ‘Baba’) …that one,” Uhuru affirmed.

Similarly, Uhuru dismissed the hustler label being used by the tanga tanga brigade to endear themselves to the masses. 

He told the crowds that the people responsible for the destruction of their livelihoods, especially farmers, are the same ones who have labelled them hustlers.

“Those who destroyed your livelihoods in tea and coffee farming are the ones who are telling you now that you are hustlers,” the president said.

The head of state took a swipe at his deputy over his cunning acts of benevolence which he attributed to stolen public funds.

Uhuru said the money being donated and used to bribe voters was meant to build dams in Elgeyo Marakwet county to help residents but was diverted illegally.

“The money you are being given is the same cash that was meant to build dams in Elgeyo Marakwet so that children of God can receive water,” Uhuru revealed.

Uhuru also faulted some church leaders who have been receiving such stolen monies to defend thieves instead of calling out the vice.

“Church leaders have been taking stolen money and defending the lies being spewed by the same thieves,” he added.

Uhuru also expressed his shock after he invited only 5,000 people to the event but about 30,000 turned up forcing him to open up the State Lodge to the excited and bulging crowds.
