Vihiga police snatched a man from the jaws of imminent death after an irate mob nailed him on a tree on suspicion of stealing a radio at Izava village in Sabatia, Vihiga County.
The area chief Evans Endesha reported the incident at Kilingili Police Station on Friday stating he was informed the young man was attacked on the allegations.
Police arrived at the scene and found the suspect identified as Collins Sambaya firmly secured on a tree by two roofing nails driven through either hand into the tree.
The police got released Sambaya from his predicament and rushed him to the hospital for treatment.
They immediately launched a manhunt for the suspects who took the law into their own hands and nailed Sambaya on the tree.

According to witnesses, the suspects were led by one Elvis Irime who actually nailed the suspect on the tree.
When police visited home over the matter, they found him missing as he had already caught wind of the visit by the police and fled.
