The CS also directed contractors building the new classrooms to be hands-on and complete the projects before March 7, 2022, to allow national examinations to be taken in them with no disruptions.
According to Magoha, the government’s target is 6,400 classrooms built in the first phase before the exams begin and the second phase to begin immediately after the marking of the national exams is complete.
"We are targeting to build 6,400 CBC classrooms during the first phase which we shall complete on that stipulated time, and the second phase should start immediately after we finish marking exams which is about the first week of May," Magoha said.
To address the matter of classroom deficit in public secondary schools and ease the transition to CBC, the government released Sh8 million to the Ministry of Education to assist in the construction of 10,000 classes.
