Four members of the same family lost their lives on Thursday morning following another Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Sangailu, Garissa County.

The four individuals were among 6 people who were travelling in a vehicle from Masalani to Holugho when the vehicle went over an IED.

The IED detonated and exploded, killing the four individuals instantly and leaving the driver of the vehicle nursing serious injuries, fighting for his life in a hospital.

The sixth passenger sustained minor injuries from the incident.

The deceased persons happened to be relatives of the former Holugho Sub-county administrator Abdullahi Yarrow.

One of them was the Holugho Water Officer who died in the line of duty while he was en route to inspect a water site in the Muftu area.

The four unfortunate victims whose lives the blast claimed have already been interred according to the Islamic Religion rites.

This incident comes within just a few days of two similar ones that happened on January 31 in Mandera and the second one on February 2 in Wajir.

The leaders from Garissa have cautioned residents against harbouring and collaborating with Al-Shabaab because it hampers the war on terror.

The leaders held a press briefing in Garissa town on Wednesday where the Garissa County Peace Committee members said terrorism is the greatest enemy to development.

“Terrorism is the greatest enemy to development & ousting them in our midst is a sure way of tremendous economic growth,” the committee said.

The attacks are suspected to be orchestrated by the infamous terrorist outfit; Al-Shabaab.
