The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Florence Jematia has been released on a Sh1 million bond with two sureties of the same amount.

Jamatia’s release came after lawyer Manaseh Tunen requested the court to release her for medical attention at a private hospital in Kabarnet.

Tunen said his client is suffering from ulcers and needed to be treated.

The prosecution had applied to detain her for five days, pending the conclusion of the probe into the case.

Judge Nerolyne Igwa of the Kabarnet Law Courts ordered Jamatia’s release no later than 3 pm on Thursday.

However, Igwa directed Jamatia to appear before DCI offices daily from 9 am for the following five days that the prosecution had requested.

The court also cautioned Jematia from attending public rallies or making inciteful remarks.

Jematia was arrested at Westpark Estate in Nairobi for uttering inciteful remarks at a meeting in Mochongi Ward, Baringo South, after failing to honour a summons from the Baringo County Security Committee.
