The residents of a village in Igembe South, Meru County are living in fear after an ex-convict who was recently released from prison murdered his two brothers and is still at large.

Sources say the suspect identified as Stanley Ntarangwi killed his brothers following a land dispute.

According to his family, Ntarangwi had been serving a 14-year sentence in Kangeta prison for cutting another individual’s hand.

On January 25, 2022, Ntarangwi is alleged to have attacked one of his brothers and cut his hand using a machete. The victim later lost his life because of losing a lot of blood as a result of the injuries he sustained.

The second incident also happened in broad daylight in the full glare of the villagers who were shocked to witness such a gross scene.

His family lives in fear after he vowed to kill all of them and take over all the family properties.

The area chief has confirmed the police are working with members of the ’Nyumba Kumi’ initiative in a serious manhunt for the evasive suspect who wields a machete in the cover of darkness and disappears into the bushes once the sun rises.

However, the chief revealed the suspect is able to evade justice because he has informers who tip him off and offer him meals.

The bodies of the deceased are being preserved at Nyambene Mortuary, as the family is appealing to the government to assist them with the burial arrangements of their kin.
