The National Police Service (NPS) of Kenya has assured the public of their security in the wake of a terrorist attack advisory.

NPS said it has scaled up security in the country through different policing operations.

“The National Police Service assures the public that security in the country has been scaled up through different policing operations,” NPS said.

The force further said it has fortified its security systems in information sharing.

NPS also said it has re-engineered its police units in line with modern-day policing dynamics, challenges and emerging threats.

The security organ said security operations that ensure attacks are averted remain its primary priority.

“The Service has re-engineered her police units in line with modern-day policing dynamics. challenges and emerging threats. Security operations that ensure that imminent attacks are forestalled proactively remain our priority,” the statement read.

This comes after an advisory supposedly from the French government went viral on social media on Thursday, alerting its citizens of an impending terrorist attack especially in Nairobi.

“There is a persistence of serious threats against Western nationals in Kenya. There is a real risk targeting public places frequented by foreign nationals (restaurants, hotels, places of leisure, shopping centres, etc.), particularly in Nairobi,” the statement read.

“Therefore, people in Kenya are advised to exercise extreme vigilance and avoid frequenting these public places in the coming days, including this weekend.”
