Five daring gangsters broke into Prime Bank offices at Westside Mall in Nakuru on Wednesday afternoon and made away with Sh2.3 million.
Nakuru police have launched a serious manhunt for the gang that stormed into the banking hall wielding a homemade gun, machete, knives and a hammer with which they used to hold the nine staffers hostage.
According to the branch manager of the bank, the thugs directed them into the washrooms, then locked them inside before ransacking and emptying the cash drawers.
Approximately Sh2.3 million is believed to have been stolen in the brazen attack.
Unfortunately, one staff member sustained some hammer inflicted injury during the incident. He was taken to hospital, treated and has been discharged from the medical facility.
