A city court has released the woman who was found with Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka at an establishment in Kilimani, Nairobi the night he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Esther Muli Nthenya, a secondary school teacher, was on Wednesday released on a personal bond after tests conducted on Senator Kabaka’s blood confirmed he had not been poisoned.

No charges were preferred against Nthenya but she was ordered to report to Kilimani Police station every 14 days without fail.

She was arrested and was facing a charge of attempted murder after Kabaka collapsed while in her company at a private location in Kilimani.

The Machakos senator was urgently rushed to Nairobi Hospital by the facility management after he complained of headaches and he had reportedly undergone a surgery procedure.

Nthenya had been detained as the police wrapped up their probe into the circumstances that led the predicament of the lawmaker, who is still being treated at Nairobi Hospital.
