The Government has said families displaced by evictions during Christmas will be resettled within 30 days as it orders immediate stop of all evictions.
This comes after a team of government officials from various agencies held a meeting on Monday with the residents of Mukuru kwa Njenga to resolve the matter.
According to PS Ministry of Interior Karanja Kibicho, the affected individuals will be resettled within the next 30 days as the government is working towards restoring normalcy in the area.
"Those affected by the regrettable incident of December 25th will be settled within the next 30 days as we work towards restoring normalcy and peaceful coexistence among Mukuru residents and property owners," Kibicho said.

According to Kibicho, the meeting resolved that there will no longer be displacement of genuine residents of the area without the involvement of the Inspector General of police and community involvement.
“We have held a fruitful meeting with representatives of Mukuru residents and resolved that there will be no further displacement of genuine residents of the area without involvement of the Inspector General of Police and extensive community engagement,” Kibicho said.
Other government officials who attended the meeting include CS Interior Fred Matiang'i, Lands CS Farida Karoney, Nairobi Metropolitan Services boss Mohamed Badi, Inspector General of police Hilary Mutyambai among others.
