Police in Maragua, Murang’a County have finally arrested a suspect wanted for defilement of a rape and defilement.

The suspect known as Andrew Ngugi Wairimu alias Makai was nabbed after escaped from lawful custody on June 4, 2021.

Makain was arrested last year for gang rape and two other separate defilement charges which are still pending before Kigumo Law Courts.

As a result, his warrant of arrest was issued by the same court.

Police ambushed Makai in his hideout at Border area of Maragua Township but the machete wielding criminal was not giving up without a fight.

In his characteristic modus operandi, Makai resisted arrest and attempted to flee from the police who used the necessary force and maimed him by shooting his buttock before he could flee.

Makai’s six months of ‘borrowed’ freedom came to an unceremonious end as he was arrested and taken to Maragua Sub-county Hospital for medical attention.

The medical personnel at the hospital where Makai is under constant watch of a police sentry have declared him out of danger.

Detectives in Murang’a South have taken up the matter and are preparing Makai’s file to arraign him in court as soon as he is discharged from hospital.
