Deputy President William Ruto has formally invited Amani national Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford-Kenya party counterpart Moses Wetang’ula for coalition talks.

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary-General Veronica Maina said Ruto extended a formal invitation to the two party leaders for partnership ahead of the 2022 general election.

Maina said UDA was ready to listen to Mudavadi and Wetangula because their party was democratic.

“In case they accept it, we will listen to them because, as UDA, we are a democratic party that does not give demands,” Maina said.

This comes after the DP prevailed upon other politicians supporting his presidential bid to fold their parties and join UDA.

Ruto fell out with Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) leader Moses Kuria and The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri after they refused to dissolve their parties to join UDA.

Maina reiterated that anyone who wanted to support UDA must join the party but an exception was made for ANC and Ford-Kenya.

“Yes, anyone who wants to support us has to join UDA, but we will listen to ANC and Ford Kenya,” Maina added.

Ruto’s opposition to coalition with parties in Central Kenya has put him on a collision course with a section of politicians with his latest move raising even more eyebrows.
