President William Ruto has led other leaders and Kenyans at large in mourning the immediate former Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha.

Ruto shared his condolence message via his social media accounts on Tuesday evening shortly after news about Magoha’s passing was broken.

The president expressed his sorrow in learning about the academician’s death and mourned Magoha as a great man who stood tall in the academic sector and where he contributed.

“I have learnt with great sorrow about the passing of Prof. George Magoha, EGH,” Ruto said.

“Prof. Magoha is a towering giant of our time, a great man who stood tall in the academy, where he excelled in learning, teaching and research, as well as in administration, where he led robust turnaround interventions at the University of Nairobi and the Kenya National Examinations Council.”

“I join Kenyans and people from other parts of the world in mourning the passing of Prof. Magoha. I also send condolences to his family and pray that Almighty God grants them divine comfort and grace in this moment of grief,” Ruto added.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta who appointed Magoha to the Education Ministry also joined other Kenyans in mourning Magoha.

Uhuru also eulogised Prof Magoha as a celebrated academic who leaves behind a strong legacy of public service.

"It is unfortunate and painful that we've lost my friend Prof George Magoha at a time when his family is mourning his brother," the former President said as he wished the Magoha family God's comfort during this difficult period of immense grief," Uhuru said.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga also sent his condolences and remembered Magoha as a transformational leader, illustrious scholar dedicated public servant and distinguished doctor.

He asked Kenyans to put the Magoha family in prayer as they deal with their tragedy.

"I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Prof. George Magoha, a transformational leader, illustrious scholar, dedicated public servant, and distinguished medical doctor who left an indelible mark on our country's education system," Raila Said."

"Let us keep the entire Magoha family in our prayers during this difficult time."

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu also mourned Magoha as a consummate and dedicated public servant whose death is a deep loss to the entire country.

"Professor Magoha's death has robbed the nation of a consummate and dedicated public servant whose contributions in the medical and education fields will remain indelible," Machogu said.

"In addition to his work in the medical field as a urologist, Professor Magoha was also a respected academic at various institutions of higher learning in Kenya and abroad."
