The National Police Service (NPS) held a security sensitisation session with 80 students from different schools in Nyeri County.

NPS, Nyeri Police Station OCS in collaboration with Sub Chief Gitathiini Sub Location and elders from the area held the event at Gitathiini Secondary School Hall within Kamakwa Location.

The 80 students aged between 14 and 23 years were taken through various important topics.

Among the topics discussed include the dangers of involvement in criminal activities, drug abuse peer pressure, defilement and rape among others.

During the event, the police urged the youth to desist completely from criminal activities. 

The police also appealed for continued cooperation from the members of the public in the spirit of community policing.

“Taking cognizance of crime's ultimate negative impact on national development, we urge the public and especially the youth to completely desist from criminal activities,” NPS said.

“We appeal to members of the public, in the spirit of community policing, to continue sharing information with security agencies to make our neighbourhood safe and secure.”
