Kakamega Senator Cleaphas Malala has been summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chair Samuel Kobia over his Bukhungu Stadium meeting.
Kobia termed Malala’s comments as being regrettable and unwarranted in a statement he issued on Monday.
“We have today summoned Senator Cleophas Malala to answer for his regrettable and unwarranted statements that allegedly meant to lock out a political candidate from holding a meeting at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega slated for December 31, 2021,” Kobia said.
Kobia also said the summon is likely to see Malala get inducted into the wall of shame and also book him a date in court to face the full force of the law.
The NCIC chairman said the commission is bent on Election Bila Noma road map and it will maintain its vigilance in monitoring the country to ensure it is not destroyed by politics.

On Sunday in a political gathering, Sen. Malala threatened to block a meeting that is scheduled for Friday and will be hosted by Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County.
You know that Kakamega is my bedroom. Now, I want to tell those people. If they won’t take the permit from Musalia Mudavadi, they should not go there on 31st …Now Honourable Musalia, you are the one who will give me the permission, should you give them the keys to come in then I will allow them in, but you have already stated that they should not come. Now I want to officially say there won’t be any meeting at Bukhungu Stadium on 31st,” Malala declared.
It is now official.

According to Malala, the Bukhungu Stadium meeting was planned by a section of leaders from the region whom he accused of being political brokers, to endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
Malala was taking a swipe at those leaders as he declared Kakamega a no-go zone and said ‘they’ had no problem with Raila’s endorsement by a section of the leaders from the region but directed them to do the exercise in either Kondele, Siaya or Yala.
We have no problem, but even if you want to declare that Raila is enough, why don’t you go and endorse him in Kondele, or in Siaya or Yala, we have said that Kakamega is a no-go zone, he added.
Atwoli reacted to Malala’s comments and affirmed that the meeting will proceed as scheduled.
He dismissed Malala as a Junior Senator who had no capacity in either speaking on the Luhya’s behalf or call off such a meeting.
