City businessman Francis Kiambi Kiriro alias Matanka who was found dead at his house in the leafy Karen suburb in Nairobi under mysterious circumstances died from cardiac arrest.

Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor who performed the autopsy on the deceased revealed on Friday the cause of Matanka’s death

According to Oduor, a Coronary Artery disease caused by excess cholesterol levels in the deceased caused the cardiac arrest that claimed the life of the businessman.

According to a police report, Kiambi’s wife, Mary Waigwe Muthoni, reported his death only hours after she allegedly declined to be his guarantor to secure a Sh2 billion business loan.

Muthoni is said to have informed the police that she came back home with her late at midnight on Monday after revelling in an entertainment joint at the Karen shopping centre.

The report says the 50-year-old businessman slept in a separate room with his wife after the row over the loan only to be found dead in the morning after vomiting beside the bed.

On August 27, 2021, KRA arraigned Kiambi, who was then Director of Patiala Distillers Kenya Limited, alongside his wife Muthoni at the Milimani Law court to respond to charges of selling alcoholic beverages affixed with counterfeit excise stamps to distributors.
