Two gatecrashers, who were captured in a viral video giving a three-year-old baby alcohol, have been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The detectives from the DCI Academy in South B said they unmasked the two suspects after analyzing the video using their state-of-the-art softwares for tracking online child offenders.

DCI says they nabbed Edward Ndirangu Muhuka, 22, in Thindigua estate and Abdulmajid Hassan Arafat, 19, in Pangani estate during an undercover operation on Thursday morning.

In the repugnant clip shared by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on social media, the two are captured giving whiskey to the minor, in a video that has attracted wide uproar.

Detectives from DCI’s Child Protection Unit, who arrested the two suspects later established they had gatecrashed at a Christmas party where their mutual friend had been invited to.

The minor’s mother who had retired to bed early after attending to her guests was woken up at 2am by concerned kin and friends, who saw the trending video and shared with her.

The two suspects were arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts, where the first accused pleaded guilty and the second accused denied the charge of failing to protect a child from drugs and substance abuse contrary to section 24 (1) (a) as read with section 24 (2) of the Children Act No. 29 of 2022.

The case will be mentioned on January 18, 2023 for the facts to be read to the first accused and to set a hearing date even as the second accused was released on a Sh200,000 bond and a surety of a similar amount.
